Pharmacists do a lot. They're often the first person we reach out to when we have a question about medication or are feeling unwell. In fact, we see our pharmacists 10x more often than our doctor.

At the same time, 45% of people don't realize that a pharmacist doesn't just dispense and educate around medications, they can also prescribe certain medications or refills.

Maya Hamam, a pharmacist in Mednow's Ontario pharmacy, explains that pharmacists can prescribe refills or new prescriptions for minor ailments. The rules for what a pharmacist can prescribe differ from province to province.
