Lyme disease prevention after tick bite

Ticks can be found in almost all regions of Québec. However, not all ticks carry the bacteria that cause Lyme disease. The risk of contracting Lyme disease is highest in sectors where there are established populations of blacklegged ticks that carry the bacteria.

If you think you have been bitten by a tick, don’t panic. Our pharmacists will be happy to provide you with all the information related to tick bites and if required, prescribe a preventive treatment delivered right to your door.

 

Eligibility criteria and details

The pharmacist may prescribe an antibiotic prophylaxis for patients exposed to Lyme disease.
