If you have run out of your usual medications, we may be able to help. Our pharmacists can assess your medication needs and refill your prescription, if needed.

Eligibility criteria and details

A pharmacist may extend a prescription issued by any professional licensed to prescribe in Canada to the extent that, if that professional practiced in Quebec, he or she could also issue the same prescription.

  • The prescription may be extended for a period less than or equal to the validity of the prescriber's original prescription, but not more than 12 months.
  • The patient should schedule a follow-up appointment with their physician as soon as possible
  • Depending on the pharmacist's judgment, the pharmacist may contact the physician to inform him/her of the prescription extension.
